Longmont: What did Eldon and Terry Mast do with Keith Kumasen Abbott’s Missing Materials?

24 September 2024 – I am currently on an extended trip to the USA to visit family and friends. I visited my father’s archives at the University of Western Washington in Bellingham. The photo below is of two page, torn out from my father’s journal entries from 2004. Where are the rest of the journals? Where are the manuscripts?

It has now been stated by Eldon and Terry Mast son-in-law that they handled the missing archives after my mother’s death. And that the archival material as been “disposed of”. Where is that material now? Who has that material now? There should be about 10 boxes of materials somewhere. I will be examining this for the coming weeks, months and years until I find it and am starting this website devoted to my father’s works.

Thereafter Eldon Mast made the following statement on LinkedIn. The question remains: What did Eldon and Terry Mast do with the materials?

What is Eldon and Terry Mast’s Tribute to Longmont Poet/Author/Artist Keith Kumasen Abbott?

My mother stipulated that Eldon and Terry Mast would buy her house at 1046 Grant Street in Longmont Colorado for fair market rate after her death in July of 2021. Terry and Eldon Mast paid 243.000 USD for the house on 1046 Grant Street in Longmont Co. The house was sold in 2022 for 450.000 USD. My mother equally left the remaining contents of the house to Eldon and Terry Mast.

I am not concerned with the house but I am concerned about my father’s missing materials. My father was Keith Kumasen Abbott, poet, writer and artist. In the spring of 2021 before her own death my mother by suicide sent my father’s archival material to the University of Western WA at Bellingham as it was my father’s wish. Before he died in 2019, Keith was busy with preparing his archival material. His sister helped supply items that my father specially wanted to be in the archive. He had a list of archival material prepared.

Unfortunately not all the material reached the University of Western Washington in Bellingham. The Abbott family is committed to finding the materials that should be housed at the University. I have retained the IP rights to my father’s works for the Abbott family and am the sole holder of those rights. We are proud of Keith Abbott’s career and we want to honor his legacy. He didn’t achieve fame or great acclaim but he was the first writer in a family of farmers. He persevered with this dream to write. It is painful that so much of the archival material has gone missing. Keith is greatly missed by his family. We want to complete the documentation of his life as much as possible. I am willing to reimburse postage costs for my father’s materials to be sent to the University of Western Washington in Bellingham Washington. It is also possible to deposit the materials (no questions asked) at a location in Boulder. Please contact me at topersephoneabbott@gmail. I will be happy to answer questions concerning this matter.
